We all know that it was made from the timbers of the H.M.S. Resolute, but I cannot seem to find what type of wood that was. Where my search is leading me is to either mahogany or oak. Does anybody know for sure what Resolute office desks made of?

Making my first baby quilt

So. Hullo. Um, my brother is having his first kid, and I started a baby quilt for him. I bought a bundle of fat quarters-- they were just too cute-- and made the quilt. Now, the quilt is pieced, but I made a bit of a rookie mistake: my seams aren't very secure, I assume because they're too small. As I do my embroidering, my hoop puts enough tension on my weak seams that it tears them. I am incredibly frustrated, mostly with myself, and am wondering if there's any way to fix or reinforce my project without tearing it all apart, as the bundle is now out of print and I have no more fabric.
